Awareness through gentle yoga movements, breathwork and calming the mind. For me, meditation is a natural, practical way of getting back in contact with yourself, to become aware of what is going on within your body, mind and spirit. This requires nothing special, meaning you can sit down anywhere, go for a walk in the park or along the beach, close your eyes on the bus or train and simply listen to that what is coming up for you, like humans have done for thousands of years whenever they needed a moment of contemplation to find answers in challenging times or count their blessings in happy ones.
I find that the word ‘meditation’ can be daunting at times, if we think of having to sit still for a certain amount of time and realise that thoughts, worries and other feelings or emotions keep on creeping up and we get frustrated that we once again can’t access that place of ‘stillness’ and ‘bliss’ people are talking about.
In these workshops my aim is to facilitate and hold a space for you, in which you are invited to bring meditation to an open, personal inquiry where you can meet your own wisdom or turmoil directly in a safe, calm and non- judgmental environment.
My hope is that with the learned techniques, or in the un-doing of habits, you will be able to bring meditation contemplation into your daily life and find yourself being aware and being able to observe certain un-settling situation and able to react to them from a calm space within you.
Practicing self-love, acceptance, non – judgement and openness are important foundations to the practise of meditation. Together with movement, breathwork and will- power it can bring transformation to our lives. A loving attitude not only opens what is closed off or wounded in ourselves, it also enables us to trust our own experience and the innate knowledge available to us.
Classes will focus on different parts of meditation, although I refrain of embedding my understanding of meditation in a traditional lineage, and am distancing myself from a structured, given meditation style- leaving out rituals and techniques in order to come back to the basics: simple body movement, breath work and the use of our voice to calm the mind.
